"The K. P. and the Top Sergeant"
Once there was a Private who said to the Top Sergeant, “Please sir, I would like K. P. for today,” whereupon the Sergeant, being an old army regular who’d seen service on the border with Blackjack Pershing, in France, at Bataan and Tunisia said, “Well, now I’ve seen everything, “ he was so amazed. So he said to the Private, “Why do you want to be on K. P.” and the Private replied “Because, sire, I like to help mamma at home, and I don’t want to forget anything my dear old mamma taught me?”
And the moral of this fable is never let a soldier in your command forget the lessons he learned from his deal old mama.

The Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing
There was once a wolf in sheep’s clothing, it was sort of Khaki-colored, having been dyed. This wolf was drafted by the Army and became a Corporal.
One day while in the Big City on leave for the day, he saw a Beautiful Creature standing on the corner crying bitterly. “Why are you crying, Beautiful One,” asked the Corporal? “I am crying because I am lonely and also I am lost,” said the Beautiful Girl. “Where do you live?” asked the Corporal. “I live about ten miles out in the country, that is my father’s car at the curb and I feel certain once we get on the road I can find the way home, only I don’t know how to drive, “answered the Girl. “If you will only permit me, Beautiful One, I shall deem it a privilege to rive you home, “ said the Corporal, and in almost no time at all he had her home an in less time than that she was sound asleep in her own little bed.
And the Corporal hiked back to camp in the dead of the night.
The moral of this story is never stop to talk to beautiful girls who cry on street corners; they may want you to drive them home.

1925 Movie Magazine
Description
An account of the resource
Sample pages from a Finkelstein and Ruben Movie Magazine publication that contains advertisements, movie industry articles, and theater schedules.
The Movie Magazine is a phenomenon that rose in popularity in the 1920s and evolved to become a publication that was meant more to entertain rather than inform. Early stages of the Movie Magazine featured articles explaining the mechanics of the movie industry, but going into the late '20s and early 30s fictionalized versions of films became the bulk of the content. These later magazines were predecessors for today's reader digests.
The above example wavers between the earlier versions of magazines and the later ones, containing both entertaining and informative content.

Movie Advertisements
Description
An account of the resource
A sampling of an artists' movie advertisement portfolio with notes.
Several questions are raised by this document. Who exactly created it? Was it the same person who wrote the margin notes? Who was it created for? The artist of of the advertisements could very well have been Frank Eisenberg himself as a few of the ads mention theaters, like the New Garrick, that were owned by the theater moguls he worked for, Finkelstien and Ruben. Frank could have also been the one writing in the notes of explanation for the audience reviewing it, or perhaps the collection of work was presented to Frank as examples for a future hire.
The films advertised in the document are all releases from the year 1919, and this sampling provides a good picture of the types of movies that were popular in the Twin Cities that year.

New Radar Test Offered by Navy
Men who have taken the navy's aptitude test for radar training and failed to pass will now be given another opportunity to take the test, according to Lt. Comm. C. S. Olson, officer in charge of navy recruiting and induction in Minnesota and North Dakota.
Upon evidence of improvement through study or work in the fields related to radar, and lapse of 30 days from the original examination recruiters are now accepting requests for re-examination from applicants.
Navy recruiting stations in Minnesota and North Dakota offer a lot of books as suggested reading for men who wish to prepare for the test.
